Why the Need to remove
macrovision? Some plasma televisions,
projection televisions & large screen LCD televisions can have a degraded
picture because they require a "Macrovision removed" signal when
viewing from DVD or VCR to DVD. This is because Macrovision copy protection and
CGMS signals embedded in the VBI (vertical blanking interval) are deigned to
have a detrimental effect on analogue AGC (automatic gain control) circuits.
There are many Macrovision buster devices available but you should look at the
legal implications that apply in your country.
There are many names
used to describe these devices: macrovision filter, disabler,
remover, hack, buster, eliminator and removed, to name but a few. There are
also many brand names, such as macro master, macromaster+, macromaster plus,
macro magic, smart leads, Vice1000, DVD Red, copymate and macro CGMS copy
protection remover.

external macrovision defeating cable to the market with the
launch of the original MacroMaster. This was the first device available with
all the electronics and software built in to the SCART cable. In recent times
many replica cables have been designed (copies and clones) but the edge has
always been with Sonel who have been able to supply new and improved software

The laws are changing,
so in compliance with these laws and in order to offer you long term backup for
your purchases, we bring you the VICE1000 (Video Image Caption Encoder). This
device is designed and manufactured abroad and was developed exclusively for
professional caption editing and video streaming applications; as a side effect
the VICE1000 unit has to replace any copy protection, Teletext or caption
information currently ion video signal passing through it with its own VBI Code
(Vertical Blanking Interval).
The Vice 1000 Unit (pictured left),
has a very simple, but also very flexible set of connections; in fact the VICE
1000 offers what is probably the
most flexible set of connections on any such device currently available: SVHS,
SCART and Composite.
How it works
and why it is legal - The VBI which
the VICE1000 replaces is the area used by many companies (Teletext and
Macrovision) to incorporate their information into a standard video signal. The
VBI has existed since Television was invented.

HACK, MULTI REGION HACK) for the purpose of enabling or facilitating the
circumvention of effective technological measures (A SYSTEM WHICH ONLY PREVENTS
COPYING AND WORKS UNAIDED FROM MANUFACTURES ADDITIONAL CIRCUTRY AND LAW
ENFORCEMENT)
The VICE1000
has not been designed to specifically do any of the above: its purpose is
entirely different - the copy protection in the VBI area is merely replaced as
side effect of the VICE1000 carrying out its normal operations in which it
write its own information into the VBI area.
